Crested Butte Marks 50th Birthday With Free Skiing
CRESTED BUTTE, Colo. (AP) - Crested Butte Mountain Resort is celebrating its 50th birthday this year, and it's offering a day of free skiing to celebrate.
The resort is offering a free lift ticket valid on this season's opening day of Nov. 23. Plus, adults whose birthdays fall during the ski season can show a valid photo ID on the day they were born to receive a free day of skiing for that day.
The resort regularly offered free, early-season skiing in the 1990s and resurrected the program for the 2007-2008 season. Crested Butte says reviving free skiing for special occasions could become a new tradition.
Crested Butte resort officially opened for skiing in November 1961.
