Colorado snow forecast: Two storms bring fresh powder for ski resorts this week

Colorado ski resorts are stacking up fresh snow this week as two waves of moisture move across the state, bringing widespread accumulation from the southern mountains to the northern ranges.

Here's a look at three-day snowfall totals:

  • Crested Butte: 20"
  • Wolf Creek: 19"
  • Snowmass: 11"
  • Vail: 5"
  • Loveland: 4"
  • Steamboat: 3"

Additional accumulations will be possible Thursday night into Friday as the next storm system moves through, helping to refresh conditions heading into the weekend. This second wave favors areas such as Steamboat and the central mountains, where colder air will help improve snow quality. Winds remain breezy at times, but colder conditions are expected to support lighter, more powder-like snow.

A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect from Thursday evening through early Friday morning. Portions of the Park and northern Gore Ranges, including Rabbit Ears Pass, could see an additional 3 to 8 inches of snow, with winds gusting up to 50 mph, creating difficult and hazardous travel conditions.
