CBI To Request $500,000 For Help With Gun Background Checks
DENVER (CBS4) - The Colorado Bureau of Investigation is planning to ask lawmakers for $500,000 to be used to help process the growing backlog of background checks for potential gun buyers.
New numbers from the CBI show the amount of applications processed over the last five years. In 2012 there were 285,424 background checks compared to 202,772 in 2008.
Right now the CBI says they have nearly 12,000 checks waiting to be processed. The wait time is over a week. The applications date back to Dec. 21.
