New Park Features Musical Instruments, Climbing Challenges, Picnic Shelters

LAKEWOOD, Colo. (CBS4) - Dirt is flying in one Lakewood neighborhood to make way for a new playground.

The city broke ground on a new playground in Carmody Park Wednesday morning. It's billed as Lakewood's first universally accessible playground -- meaning children of all abilities will be able to play together.

One young resident is excited to see new equipment coming in to the area.

"I'm just happy we're finally putting that space to use," Lain Ireland said.

The park also includes musical instruments, climbing challenges and picnic shelters.
