Bullet Rips Through Floor Of Woman's Bedroom
ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (CBS4) - A family who lives in an apartment in Englewood says they are living in fear after police say a resident in an apartment below them fired a bullet that came up through their floor.
The incident happened at about 2:30 a.m. Sunday morning. Roaa Alsaigh, 26, told CBS4 the bullet came up the bedroom carpet in her third floor apartment while she was sitting on a futon nearby.
"I was actually in my bedroom. I heard a hard sound from the other side," she said. "I saw the bullet come up from the floor."
She remains so shaken up that she would only talk to CBS4 if her face wouldn't be shown on TV. She described her emotional state as "nervous" and "uncomfortable."
No one was struck by the bullet, but Alsaigh said her 2-year-old and 7-year-old nieces normally watch TV in the exact spot where the bullet came through. The girls were asleep at the time.
Alsaigh's brother Ramiz rushed into the room when he heard the noise. He says found the bullet on the ground near the bullet hole and called police.
"It's something scary, the first time you see a bullet (that's just been fired)," Ramiz told CBS4.
After police arrived they went to the apartment below on the second floor and arrested Ryan Hogan, 26. According to a police report, Hogan was allegedly very intoxicated and fired a pistol off to relieve tension.
Hogan answered the door when a CBS4 crew went to interview him Thursday but he said he "didn't want to talk about" what happened and quickly shut the door. He is due in court on Feb. 15 in the case.
Alsaigh says she would like Hogan to be kicked out of the apartment building as soon as possible.
"If he's not going to leave the apartment, I will leave the apartment," she said.
A leasing agent at the apartment building told CBS4 they have not asked Hogan to move out at this point and that their lawyers are handling the situation.
