Broncos Theme For The 2016 Season: 'On To The Next One'

By Mark Haas

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (CBS4)- If music can send a message, then the Broncos first song of training camp said it all. As the team lined up to stretch, Jaz-Z's 'On to the Next One' led off the playlist.

Gary Kubiak jokingly gave credit to Wade Phillips for the selection, but it was clearly the theme Kubiak wants for the 2016 season.

"I told (the team) that we're not defending anything, we're chasing the next one and we're going to work on the next one," Kubiak said after practice.

Message received.

"We're chasing another championship. That's what it's all about," receiver Emmanuel Sanders said after practice, echoing his coach. "A lot of people are saying, 'You're going to have a tough chance of defending it,' as if we don't win the Super Bowl this year we have to give our rings back. The trophy is ours. We're just out here chasing another one."

"Super Bowl 50 is ours," said running back C.J. Anderson. "We can't go back to Super Bowl 50, it is on to 51."

And it's on to a new era of QBs. Peyton Manning is retired, Brock Osweiler is in Houston and the Broncos still need a starter for 2016.

Mark Sanchez led off with the starters today, with Trevor Siemian also getting 1st team reps. Rookie Paxton Lynch has been relegated to 3rd string for now, but everyone is getting equal reps.

"It was a great start, but it's only a start," Sanchez said about day 1. "It's fun to get back out here and get it moving around and throw it down the field a little bit. I thought we had a good day."

"I'm just trying to go out here one rep at a time from day one of OTAs," Siemian said about his approach to the competition. "I've had the same mindset. I think it's got me to this point so I'll probably stick with that."

Kubiak hasn't set a time table for naming a starter.
