Boulder Homicide Suspect Falls From Table Mesa Park-n-Ride, Pronounced Dead

BOULDER, Colo. (CBS4) - Boulder police are investigating after a homicide suspect fell from the Table Mesa Park-n-Ride Off US 36 and Table Mesa Drive. Officers were first called to an apartment in the 3200 block of 30th Street around 3:15 p.m. Friday.

The person who called 911 told police a husband left the apartment with two children, ages six and 12, possibly armed with a gun. When officers arrived at the apartment, they found a woman dead inside.

Police later followed the suspect to the Table Mesa Park-n-Ride. Officers said they tried to negotiate with the suspect on the top level of the parking garage with the two children still inside the car.

At one point, investigators said one or more officers fired a gunshot, but it is unclear if the suspect was shot before he fell from the top of the parking structure. The suspect was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. The children, police said, were unharmed.

Investigators said the victim and suspect had a relationship with one another. Their names and manner of death will be released by the Boulder County Coroner's Office.

Boulder police will continue to investigate the homicide on 30th St. The death of the suspect is currently being investigated as an officer-involved shooting by the Boulder County Critical Incident Team.

According to a statement from the Boulder Police Department, the names of the officers involved will be held for at least 48 hours, per department policy.

The Table Mesa Park-n-Ride is closed to traffic while police investigate. Drivers will not be able to access their cars at the Park-n-Ride while the scene is active. On Twitter, Boulder Police said they expect to reopen the parking garage at 9 a.m. Saturday.

RTD officials said bus service for the Flatiron Flyer routes, AB, 236, 206, and DASH has resumed at the bus stop outside the Park-n-Ride.
