Baltimore police seek "Most Wanted" suspect in fatal June shooting

The Baltimore Police Department is asking for the public's help in finding the city's "Most Wanted" suspect, who is wanted in connection with a fatal shooting in June that was captured on surveillance video.

Deshawn Taylor, 24, is wanted in connection with a shooting that left one person dead and another injured on June 23. 

Police said officers were called to the 5200 block of York Road, where 38-year-old Asia Williams and a 27-year-old man had been shot. Williams later died at a hospital from her injuries.

Baltimore police said Taylor is considered "armed and dangerous." Authorities warn that he should not be approached or apprehended by anyone other than law enforcement.

Anyone who has seen Taylor or knows his current whereabouts is asked to contact homicide detectives at 410-396-2100.

"Both are my customers"

The shooting happened in the parking lot of a convenience store on York Road near McCabe Avenue. The store manager, Simanto Das, said surveillance cameras at the store captured an argument in the parking lot. 

In surveillance video WJZ obtained, it appears a man flashed a gun while walking in the store.  

Inside the store, cameras capture a man, who Baltimore Police have identified as Taylor, pointing a gun at another man while running around in the store. Taylor can be seen firing shots through the glass window before stepping out into the parking lot and shooting at a car multiple times. 

"I never seen this happen before in my store," Das said. "Everybody was friendly and cool but it happened instantly. We never thought it was going to happen like that." 

Simanto Das said he knows many of his customers well. Das said he even knew Williams.  

"She comes everyday twice morning and night," he said. "She was so sweet." 

A neighbor who did not want to be identified said he wasn't surprised to hear about the shooting when it happened. 

"It always happens around here," the man said. "Eventually, he's going to get caught. We know that because technology is too good."

Das said he will continue to help police. Even two months later, Das says his customers question if this will happen again at his store.

"My customers are still asking us what's going on," Das said. "Everybody's scared, always. Everybody is scared for [their] life."
