Bomb-Disposal Unit Returning To Fort Carson

FORT CARSON, Colo. (AP) - About 40 soldiers from an explosives disposal unit are returning to Fort Carson after spending a year in Afghanistan.

Fort Carson says the 62nd Explosives Ordnance Disposal Company conducted more than 850 emergency response combat missions, including 350 involving improvised explosive devices.

Individuals in the company received five Purple Hearts, 17 Bronze Stars and other decorations.

The soldiers are expected to arrive Wednesday afternoon, but schedules for returning troops frequently change.

In Afghanistan, the company supported another Fort Carson unit, the 1st Brigade Combat Team of the 4th Infantry Division.
