Bake Sale Held To Raise $$ For Woman Hit By Light Rail
DENVER (CBS4) - It's been two weeks since a woman was hit by a light rail train off Speer Boulevard. On Saturday friends organized a bake sale to raise money for Laura Triem's medical bills.
The sale was held outside the Cheesecake Factory on the 16th Street Mall where she worked. Co-workers say they are all like family. They also say they're confident that with her upbeat attitude Triem will continue to recover.
"She has a wonderful personality, she's very upbeat, always positive, very optimistic and just all around awesome" friend Erin Pacha said.
Friends of Triem say she is no longer in intensive care but still has a long recovery ahead. She suffered a broken collarbone, fractured pelvis and severe head injury that's affected her ability to communicate.
"Considering the circumstances, she looked awesome," Pacha said after visiting Triem in the hospital. "I was dreading the worst and hoping for the best and it was way better than I thought it was going to be."
The bake sale raised about $2,400.
A fund has been set up for Triem to give money to her to help pay for medical bills. Visit: http://www.giveforward.com
