Aspen Mourns Longtime Ski Instructor Killed In Park City
ASPEN, Colo. (AP) — Aspen is mourning the death of a longtime ski instructor who died while skiing in Park City, Utah.
Forty-eight-year-old Hansi Brenninger collided with a tree while skiing with family on an advanced run Saturday. He died at the scene.
Brenninger worked as a ski instructor at Aspen Mountain's ski school for the last 20 years, after teaching in his native Australia and Europe. He also worked in real estate and event planning in the resort community.
School manager Andy Docken says Brenninger was just as passionate about a day on the mountain with his family as he was competing in the town's annual races.
About 150 skiers skied down Aspen Mountain in his honor Sunday and spelled out his first name in the snow with colored course markers.
