No Suspect, No Motive After 78-Year-Old Woman Stabbed
ARVADA, Colo. (CBS4) - A 78-year-old woman was stabbed in the chest after answering her door in Arvada and police need the public's help finding her attacker.
Police said the attack happened just before 5 a.m. Sunday at a home on Kline Street. The victim believed the paperboy was who rang the doorbell, but instead it was an unknown man who attacked her with a knife.
"Anytime you have someone who is willing to go to someone's home and do this we should be concerned," Jill McGranahan, spokesperson for the Arvada Police Department, told CBS4's Kelly Werthmann.
The victim managed to get to the house next door, which neighbors said belongs to her sister, to call 911. When officers arrived they found the woman with serious bodily injuries to her chest and rushed her to a hospital. Authorities said she is stable.
"We don't have an idea of a motive right now and that is disconcerting," McGranahan said. "We have some leads that we're following up on, but really we're looking to the public to help us possibly with surveillance video or anything that they might have."
The victim told investigators her attacker was a white man in his 30s, about 5-foot-10 with a thin build. He also has brown "buzz cut" hair with facial stubble, last seen wearing dark clothing.
