Arapahoe Basin Moves Up Closing Day To Sunday
KEYSTONE, Colo. (AP/CBS4) - Arapahoe Basin is ending its ski season Sunday.
The ski area initially planned to stay open until early June. It says it's moving up closing day to Sunday due to unseasonably warm weather and a lack of snowfall. It reported a base of 32 inches of snow at mid-mountain Tuesday.
Arapahoe Basin is the only Colorado ski resort to stay open until May this season.
There will be a final weekend party on Saturday with food and music. The Huck Rock and Roll Slopestlye event in the Treeline Terrain Park starts at 10 a.m.
Last year, A-Basin got so much spring snow that it was operating daily until early June and kept its lifts running on weekends until July 4. A year ago, A-Basin still had a 62-inch base in mid-June.
