Alzheimer's Association Holds Town Hall With Lawmakers
DENVER (CBS4) - This week Coloradans are sharing their stories of coping with Alzheimer's. It's part of a push to maintain research funding to fight the disease.
The Alzheimer's Association of Colorado hosted a town hall for people to talk with state lawmakers about the urgency of the national Alzheimer's plan. The organization is focused on research and treatment and the group wants to make sure it's funded.
"If all of us in this room lived to be 85, I'm afraid that about half of us would be like your father and have Alzheimer's disease," Dr. Huntington Potter with the Alzheimer's Association said. "And the other half will be a caregiver, and that's not a future to look forward to."
Join CBS4 in the fight against Alzheimer's. The Walk to End Alzheimer's is coming up on Saturday, Sept. 15 at City Park. Money raised goes toward education, research and support programs sponsored by the Alzheimer's Association. There is a 5K walk or run option.
