71-Year-Old Record High Could Fall Friday In Denver
DENVER (CBS4) - A stretch of unusually warm weather is in store for Denver over the next 5 days, and at times, we could be in record territory.
The record high for Friday, Feb. 6 is 67°F set in 1944.
Denver is currently expected to have a high around 70°F on Friday which if that happens will set a new record.
But there is potential for the development of a mountain wave cloud on Friday afternoon and that could cause us to fall a few degrees shy if it forms early and reduces daytime heating.
The record high for Saturday, Feb. 7 is 71° set in 1987.
Right now it looks like we have the potential to get near or even tie that record too.
The highest February temperature ever recorded in Denver was 77°F on Feb. 4, 1890 and Feb. 28, 2006.
An interesting fact about February in Denver is that the record high on every day of the month is 70°F or better with the exception of Feb. 6, 1944 (67°F) and Feb. 15, 1986 (66°F).
