Arrest Made After Triple Shooting In Aurora That Killed 2
AURORA, Colo. (CBS4) - A suspect has been arrested after a triple shooting in Aurora early Tuesday morning that left two people dead and another injured.
The crime happened at approximately 2:45 a.m. in the 1400 block of Lima Street. Neighbors called police and reported hearing shots.
When police arrived at an apartment they found a man and a woman inside, both with gunshot wounds. The man died after being taken to the hospital. The woman was also taken to the hospital and was described as having non-life threatening injuries.
Officers also found a man with gunshot wounds in an alley next to the apartment. That man was also taken to the hospital and later died from his injuries.
"Investigators are not looking for anyone else in connection to the shooting incident," Sgt. Cassidee Carlson said in a prepared statement.
The suspect was arrested with the assistance of Denver police at East 33rd Avenue and Jasmine Street in Denver. Police aren't releasing his identity because photo lineups may be used.
"Investigators believe that the resident and his female guest were in the front room of the home when two suspects came to the address. A struggle ensued inside the house where one of the suspects was shot and died," Carlson said.
According to Carlson, the male resident of the home made his way outside, was shot by the second suspect, but made his way to an alley where he was later found by police. Carlson said the second suspect then returned inside the house and took the resident's keys to his vehicle and fled the scene.
"This case still remains very active with a lot of work left to be done by investigators; however, police are very pleased with the fact that no one remains outstanding in this homicide," Carlson said.
So far no names of anyone involved in the shooting have been released.
