“Titanic: The Exhibition” is open now at Westfield Old Orchard. The exhibit also features the Eastland Disaster, also known as Chicago’s Titanic, that happened three years after, according to creative producer Mark Lach.
“Titanic: The Exhibition” includes a recreation of part of the trip along with relics that survived the sinking.
The exhibition returns to the Chicago area, this time in the northern suburbs.
"It's a hopeful story, even though it was struck with tragedy. It was about people's hopes and dreams of going to a new country."
Thousands saw it and it was so popular, there was a second exhibit a couple of years later. Now, the Titanic exhibit is coming back to Chicago with a connection to that original show. CBS 2's Marissa Perlman reports.
The U.S. Coast Guard said the sub experienced a "catastrophic loss of the pressure chamber," and confirmed that a debris field found on the sea floor was pieces of the missing sub.
The noises were picked up by a Canadian aircraft, the U.S. Coast Guard says. The submersible went missing with five people on board.
