Many areas in the north suburbs remained flooded Thursday morning, and rivers were still rising, leaving businesses and homeowners on alert.
The storm lasted only about 30 minutes, but toppled dozens of trees, uprooting portions of a sidewalk and damaging a playground.
The storms will be capable of producing rainfall rates up to 2 inches per hour and could cause localized flash flooding, the weather service said.
