Waves of storms Thursday in Chicago
CHICAGO (CBS) — Weather Alert stays active for overnight storm threat. Spotty drizzle lingers Thursday afternoon.
Storm chances increase after dark, especially after midnight. The Storm Prediction Center has Chicago at a Level 2 (out of 5) for severe overnight changes.
The strongest cells could accompany damaging winds, large hail, and flooding. Some of the storms could rotate.
However, the overnight forecast is uncertain, with the clouds and sprinkles lingering this afternoon. Storm chances return Friday afternoon into the evening. We are at Level 1 for Friday's storm threat.
Beach hazard statements are in effect until 10 p.m. for Lake and Cook County beaches in Illinois. Waves of three to six feet are expected with dangerous rip currents.
