Warm and humid day in Chicago on Thursday
CHICAGO (CBS) — After a brief surge of warmer, more humid air on Thursday, a cold front brings breezy winds and cooler weather Friday and Saturday.
The cold front moves through the area late Thursday evening with a few sprinkles possible, then gusty northwest winds behind it. Wind gusts may exceed 30 miles per hour on Friday and Saturday afternoons, prompting a Beach Hazard Statement for northwest Indiana, where swimming will be dangerous.
Weekend weather looks great for the Chicago Air and Water Show, but there are chances of thunderstorms returning mid-next week.
The National Weather Service finalized the tornado count from our historic mid-July outbreak. Sunday, Jul. 14, brought 9 confirmed tornadoes, and Monday, Jul. 15, brought 32—beating the all-time one-day tornado record in our area of 22 tornadoes from both 2014 and 2023.
