Teen Shot Near Morgan Park High School

CHICAGO (STMW) - A 17-year-old was wounded in a shooting near a high school in the Far South Side Morgan Park neighborhood Monday afternoon.

The shooting happened about 4:15 p.m. on the 11200 block of South Vincennes Avenue, according to police News Affairs Officer Veejay Zala.

The victim, a 17-year-old boy, was shot in the forearm. He was taken in an unknown condition to MetroSouth Medical Center in Blue Island.

A vehicle was seen fleeing the scene, Zala said, but as of about 5:10 p.m., police had no additional details on the shooting.

The shooting took place about a block south of Morgan Park High School. According to unconfirmed dispatch reports, the victim was outside a sandwich shop when he was struck, and went into the shop following the shooting.

Calumet Area detectives are investigating.
