Sun-Times Review Of McNeil And Boers From 1992

(WSCR) Early on in The Score's history, the Chicago Sun-Times released a review of the station's first year on the air.

Of host Terry Boers, the Sun-Times writes: "The Steve Dahl of sports talk -- a little heavy on the sexual  innuendo, but more often witty and clever. A Sun-Times sportswriter, Boers is the most user-friendly personality on the Score and has surprisingly good diction for a scribe. An expert on most any sport> Handles callers and guests better than anyone"

On Dan McNeil: "Calls himself 'Dangerous.' He is - to your ears. Take away his run-on questions, newspaper regurgitation and garbled movie sound bites, and all you have left is dead air. Oh yeah, and hockey, too. But give him this: The Coppock wannabe tries hard. His shows do have the best guests, although co-hosts end up asking the best questions."

On Brian Hanley: "Henny Young man with an attitude. But he can be quite engaging. Another Sun-Times sportswriter, Hanley is a knowledgeable reporter who interviews guests about sticky topics. Doesn't know much hockey, but with McNeil, who needs to? Best afternoon show was the day McNeil was sick and he teamed with Boers."
