Smash-and-grab burglars target Chicago Loop Foot Locker store, 3 other Chicago businesses
CHICAGO (CBS) — Chicago police are investigating after thieves broke into a Foot Locker store overnight in the Loop, in one of four burglaries in Chicago early Sunday morning.
Police said officers responded to a burglar alarm at 1:43 a.m. at the store at State and Monroe streets.
Upon arrival, they found the front glass doors were smashed with clothes scattered around.
Police said some items were taken from the store.
In addition to the Loop Foot Locker, the burglaries struck at the following locations and times:
- 2900 block of North Sheffield Avenue, Lakeview, 2:03 a.m.
- 200 block of West Van Buren Street, downtown, 2:26 a.m.
- 3400 block of West Fullerton Avenue, Logan Square, 3:06 a.m.
The burglars were wearing predominantly dark clothing, black ski masks, and orange and black gloves. Five men were involved, police said.
As of Sunday, no one is in custody in any of the incidents.
