Woman Killed By Stray Bullet In Belmont Cragin Shooting

(CBS) --A young woman is dead after she was hit by stray bullet while sitting in an apartment.

It happened just after 12:30 a.m. Sunday morning near Oakdale and Lockwood in the Belmont-Cragin neighborhood.

Police say the 18-year-old victim was inside an apartment on the third floor when a bullet came through a window and hit her in the head. The victim has been identified as Alexandra Burgos.

She was rushed to Illinois Masonic Medical Center and died a short time later.

Stunned neighbors heard several gunshots.

"I woke up and my daughter and my daughter is sleeping on the couch out front and I was worried about her so I ran out front. Didn't see anything, ran to the back, didn't see anything. I heard somebodyscreaming "God no. God no," said neighbor Chris Harms. "

So far, no one is in custody.
