Police: 2 Dead, 6 Wounded In Wednesday Shootings

(STMW) -- Two people were killed and at least six others were wounded in shootings on the South and West sides between Wednesday morning and afternoon, police said.

A man was shot to death Wednesday afternoon in a Humboldt Park neighborhood business, police said.

A suspect or suspects entered a business in the 3300 block of West Division Street at 4:33 p.m. and shot a 32-year-old man several times before running away, police said. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

About three hours earlier, a man was shot in the West Side Austin neighborhood. A 22-year-old man was outside in the 300 block of North Central at 1:55 p.m. when someone walked up and shot him several times, according to police.

He was shot in the head and torso and pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

The Cook County medical examiner's office could not immediately confirm either death.

The most recent nonfatal shooting occurred in the Humboldt Park neighborhood.

The shooting occurred in the 4100 block of West North Avenue at 3:09 p.m., police said.

The 27-year-old man suffered a gunshot wound to the head and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where his condition stabilized, police said.

Two people were shot in the 6400 block of South Eggleston in Englewood about 2 p.m.

A 38-year-old woman was shot in the left thigh and abdomen and taken to St. Bernard Hospital, then was transferred to Stroger Hospital where her condition was stabilized, police said.

A 20-year-old man was shot in the right shoulder and also taken to St. Bernard Hospital, where his condition was also stabilized.

About 90 minutes earlier, a man was shot while driving in the Calumet Heights neighborhood on the Far South Side.

A 21-year-old man was driving southbound in the 9400 block of South Stony Island Avenue about 12:40 p.m. when someone walked up and fired shots, according to police.

The man continued driving for a few blocks until he pulled over in the 1600 block of East 95th Street and alerted police. He was shot in the back and buttocks and taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where his condition stabilized, police said.

Separate West Side shootings that occurred minutes apart left two people wounded Wednesday morning.

About 10:40 a.m., a 28-year-old man was shot in the hand in the 4300 block of West Van Buren, according to Chicago Police.

He showed up at Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was listed in good condition.

About 10 minutes later, a man in his 30s was shot in the 4700 block of West Harrison, police said.

He walked into West Suburban Medical Center in Oak Park with a gunshot wound to the left thigh, police said. He was also listed in good condition.

Police said the shootings are not believed to be related.
