Paterno Suffers Arm, Hip Injuries After Collision In Practice
(CBS) Penn State head coach Joe Paterno suffered injuries to his right arm and hip Sunday after "he was blindsided by a player running a drill on the practice field," the team announced Monday.
The school says he was able to walk away after the collision, but he spoke to reporters Monday via speaker phone from Mount Nittany Medical Center Monday where tests were being conducted on his injuries.
"I expect to be back at practice soon. I'm doing fine; tell everyone not to worry about me," Paterno said. "I like the effort I have seen from the squad during our first few practices, but we have a long way to go to get ready for the schedule we have."
The team's doctors don't believe surgery will be necessary.
