Murders And Shootings Are Up For February: CPD Crime Statistics
CHICAGO (CBS) -- New Chicago crime numbers for February are out, and murders and shootings are up.
The city had 34 murders last month. That's 10 more murders than in February of 2019 -- a 41% increase.
There were 166 shootings, compared to only 123 at the same time last year.
Carjackings are also up, especially on the city's North Side.
Police are bringing back a carjacking task force to try to turn that trend around.
