2 arrested after multi-vehicle crash in Bridgeport, Chicago police say
Two men were arrested following a multi-vehicle crash Friday morning on the city's South Side.
It happened around 7:30 a.m. in the 600 block of West 31st Street in the Bridgeport neighborhood.
According to Chicago police, a Hyundai sedan was heading westbound on 31st Street when it disregarded a stop sign and hit a Honda sedan that was heading northbound on Lowe Avenue.
The Hyundai then hit a parked Infiniti SUV on 31st Street.
The Hyundai driver, a 31-year-old man, suffered minor injuries from the crash and ran from the scene. He was then placed into custody by responding officers.
He was taken to Insight Hospital and Medical Center for treatment.
Another man who was a passenger in the Hyundai suffered injuries to his head and chest area. He was taken to Stroger Hospital in critical condition.
Police said two firearms were recovered on the scene.
The Honda driver, a 68-year-old man, suffered minor injuries and was also taken to Stroger Hospital in good condition.
Four citations were issued to the Hyundai driver. He and the passenger were taken into custody.
Charges are pending as of Friday.
The Major Accidents Investigation Unit is investigating.
