Missing Chicago Public Schools teacher Linda Brown's car found, husband says
The car belonging to a Chicago Public Schools teacher has been found, according to her husband, but she is still missing.
Linda Brown, 53, was last seen Saturday near the 4500 block of S. Martin Luther King Drive in Bronzeville.
"She's a wonderful person, like I said, outgoing, smart, funny," said husband Antwon Brown.
For 11 years, Antwon and his wife, Linda, have been married, and were living in their Bronzeville townhouse, the last place he said he saw her around midnight Friday night going into Saturday.
"She was in the bed when I went upstairs, everything was fine, don't know when she got up," he said.
Antwon said he got up around 8:30 a.m. on Saturday to go boxing. Linda was supposed to go to her acupuncture appointment on the 2200 block of West North Avenue in Wicker Park. She never showed up.
"She has acupuncture every Saturday, and she don't miss it unless it's something important and she has to cancel," he said.
Antwon said Linda teaches here at Robert Healy Elementary School in Bridgeport. He said she did take a leave of absence for a few months and was set to go back to school this past Monday.
"She has a little mental issues going on, and she took a leave of absence from her job to get help for that," he said. "As school was getting closer, it was kind of getting worse, like the anxiety, the panic attacks."
Chicago police are investigating, and Antwon said her blue Honda Civic was also missing until Wednesday.
"The update now is we found the car, so that is a positive thing. We found the car, CPD towed it," he said.
The car was found undamaged, but he would not say where it was found. Chicago police also would not confirm any of those details.
"She is being missed a lot, especially by me. I am not eating, I am not really sleeping, so man, she needs to come home, come home," he said.
Antwon said they do not track each other's phones, and there are no cameras in the front or back of the townhouse to know when Linda left or what she took with her.
"Please, love on your family, because I am missing mine," he said.
She was described as 5 feet 7 inches tall, 130 lbs., with brown eyes and hair and a fair complexion. Police said she may be in need of medical attention.
Anyone with information on her whereabouts is asked to contact Area 1 SVU detectives at 312-747-8380.
