Metra Trains Delayed After Pedestrian Struck Near West Hinsdale Station
(STMW) -- Outbound Metra trains were delayed Friday night near West Hinsdale after a person was struck by a train, the railway service confirmed.
Train #1275 on the BNSF line was traveling outbound to Aurora about 6:20 p.m. when it struck the pedestrian at the railway's intersection with South Stough Street, according to Metra Spokesman Michael Gillis.
Trains were halted until about 7 p.m., according to Metra. As of 8 p.m. on the BNSF line, inbound trains were operating about 20 to 30 minutes behind schedule and outbound trains were facing delays between 45 minutes and 2 hours.
Additional details, including the circumstances of the accident, the victim's name and the victim's condition were not immediately available.
