Man Shot, Critically Wounded After Fight On CTA Bus

CHICAGO (STMW) -- A man was critically injured in a Chatham neighborhood shooting that stemmed from a fight on a CTA bus Monday night on the South Side.

About 8:30 p.m., the 34-year-old was a passenger on a No. 75 CTA bus traveling east on 75th Street near Martin Luther King Drive when he got into an argument with several people on the bus, according to Chicago Police and CTA spokesman Jeff Tolman.

The man chased the other people off the bus and later returned, police said. It was then that he discovered he was shot in the leg.

He was taken to Stoger Hospital in serious-to-critical condition, according to the Chicago Fire Department.

Fire officials initially said the man's daughter, a minor, had been shot in the same incident but later corrected that, saying she had suffered other minor injuries. She was taken to Stroger with her father as a precaution.
