CHICAGO (CBS) -- Spring is still a few weeks away, but Chicago leaders are getting down and dirty to spruce up Kiwanis Park.

Crews will clear out brush and other invasive plant species and open up access to the river.

New signs and lights will also be added throughout the trail. The project is expected to be finished by the end of the year.
