1 killed, 45 injured in Chicago weekend shootings

CHICAGO (CBS) — At least one person was killed, and 43 other people were hurt in weekend shootings across Chicago as of Sunday. 

The ages of the victims range from 9 to 54. 

Friday

  • At 7:27 p.m. in the 5500 block of West Quincy, three teens were near the sidewalk when they were approached by a black Kia. One person got out of the vehicle and started shooting. All three victims were transported to Stroger Hospital and were initially reported in good condition. A 14-year-old boy was struck in the ankle. A 15-year-old girl was struck in the buttocks. An 18-year-old man suffered a graze wound to the back. 
  • At 8:15 p.m. in the 5700 block of South Aberdeen, police responded to a person shot and found a 42-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the face outside in the rear of a home. The victim was not able to provide details. He was transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he was listed in serious condition. 
  • At 8:28 p.m. in the 5300 block of West North Avenue, police responded to a person show and found a 25-year-old man with a gunshot to the back. The victim relocated to the 5400 block of West LeMoyne after he was shot. He said the person who shot him fled the scene in a black SUV. The victim was transported to Loyola Hospital and listed in good condition. 
  • At 11:01 p.m. in the 800 block of East 79th Street, a 30-year-old man was walking outside when he was shot at by an unidentified male who fled the scene. The victim was struck in each arm and was transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he was listed in fair condition. 

Saturday

  • At 12:29 a.m. in the 3200 block of West Irving Park Road, a 42-year-old man was in an argument with an unidentified male who shot him in the abdomen and hand before fleeing. The victim was transported to Illinois Masonic, where he was listed in fair condition. 
  • At 1:15 a.m. in the 8000 block of South Stewart, a 35-year-old man was in an argument with an unidentified male who started shooting and then fled the scene. The victim was transported to St. Bernard Hospital in fair condition with multiple gunshot wounds to the body. 
  • At 2:44 a.m. in the 2500 block of West 47th Street, police responded to a call of a person shot and found a 54-year-old man inside a vehicle with a gunshot wound to the arm. The victim said a bullet came through his front windshield and struck him as he was driving past several people who were standing outside. The victim was transported to Mt. Sinai Hospital, listed in good condition. 
  • At 9:18 p.m. in the 6800 block of South Wabash Avenue, officers responded to a call of a person shot in a home and arrived on the scene to find a 9-year-old girl who was accidentally shot by a family member. The girl was transported to Comer Children's Hospital in good condition. 
  • At 10:13 p.m. in the 8700 block of South Burley, a 12-year-old was riding his bicycle on the sidewalk when he saw a dark vehicle and heard multiple shots. The victim was shot in the right leg and was transported to Trinity Hospital, where he was listed in good condition. 
  • At 9:59 p.m. in the 700 block of South Albany Avenue, a group of men were hanging out on the street when an unknown number of offenders fired shots from a distance in their direction - striking six men. A 23-year-old was shot in the back and face and was dropped off at Stroger Hospital in critical condition. A 21-year-old suffered a gunshot wound to the right cheek and was dropped off at Stroger Hospital in critical condition. A 27-year-old suffered a gunshot wound to the back and two gunshot wounds to the left ankle and was dropped off at Stroger Hospital in critical condition. A 39-year-old was shot in the right leg and was taken to Stroger in good condition. A 33-year-old was shot in the right leg and was taken to Mt. Sinai Hospital in good condition. A 38-year-old suffered a gunshot wound to the right ankle and was also taken to Mt Sinai in good condition.
  • At 10:08 p.m. in the 2300 block of South Ridgeway Avenue, a man, 36, drove to the police station having suffered gunshot wounds to the right calf. The victim stated he was driving his vehicle when someone fired shots in the area. The victim was taken to Mt Sinai in good condition. 
  • At 10:30 p.m. in the 700 block of North Troy Street, a woman, 53, was sitting on the porch when an unknown man walking on the sidewalk pulled out a handgun and fired shots in her direction. The victim suffered a gunshot wound to the right thigh and was taken to Stroger in good condition. The circumstances surrounding the incident are unknown.
  • At 11 p.m. in the 3700 block of West 56th Street, Police responded to shots fired and found three victims in a backyard who were struck by gunfire. A 19-year-old man was shot in the abdomen and was taken to Christ Hospital in serious condition. An 18-year-old man was also stuck in the abdomen and was taken to Christ Hospital in serious condition. The third victim, a 23-year-old man, was struck on the rear, thigh, and leg and was taken to Holy Cross Hospital in good condition. A witness told officers that the victims were shot at by an unidentified male offender who was in an argument with one of the victims. The offender left the scene through the alley.
  • At 11:15 p.m. in the 3500 block of West 13th Place, a male victim, 28, was on the street when someone unknown fired shots in the area. The victim sustained a gunshot wound to the lower left leg and was transported to Mt Sinai Hospital in good condition.
  • At 11:33 p.m. in the 500 block of North Leamington Avenue, an argument took place on the sidewalk where two men pulled out handguns, and one of the males fired shots at two men who were in a group. A 44-year-old man dropped a gun after he was shot in his left eye and was taken to Stroger Hospital in critical condition and died a short time later. A 50-year-old was shot in the back and three more to the right arm and was taken to Stroger in good condition. A handgun was recovered on the scene. It was later confirmed that a third victim, a 27-year-old woman, walked into Loretto Hospital with a graze wound to her cheek. She was listed in good condition, treated, and released.
  • At 11:43 p.m. in the 1600 block of South Pulaski Road, a man, 23, was walking on the sidewalk when shots were fired in the area and the victim was struck by gunfire. The victim suffered a gunshot wound to the right side of the body and self-transported to Stroger. The victim was very uncooperative with police about the incident and refused to answer any questions. 

Sunday

  • At 12:24 a.m. in the 2200 block of South Sacramento Avenue, a man, 25, was inside a vehicle when shots were fired in the area by an unknown offender. The victim was shot in his left shoulder and self-transported to St. Anthony Hospital in good condition.
  • At 12:38 a.m. in the 2900 block of South Fort Dearborn, a man and a woman were standing outside when they heard loud noises and felt pain. The 28-year-old woman suffered a graze wound to her left arm and is in good condition after self-transporting to a hospital in Harvey, Illinois. The 31-year-old man was shot in the abdomen and grazed in the left hand and is in good condition at the University of Chicago Medical Center. 
  • At 1:09 a.m. in the 6000 block of South Normal Boulevard, a 22-year-old man was driving in his vehicle when another unknown vehicle pulled next to him, and someone from inside fired shots in his direction. The victim was grazed on the right side of his face and refused medical attention at the scene.
  • At 1:24 a.m. in the 6000 block of South Albany Avenue, two men were walking to a vehicle in the alley when someone unknown fired multiple shots in their direction. A 23-year-old man suffered four gunshot wounds to the body and was taken to Christ Hospital in critical condition. A 34-year-old male suffered a gunshot wound to the abdomen and was also taken to Christ in critical condition. 
  • At 2:55 a.m. in the 200 block of North Carpenter Street, officers responded to a shots fired call in the area and saw a man, 31, on the ground bleeding. The victim was shot in his lower abdomen and was taken to Stroger in critical condition. 
  • At 4:27 a.m. in the 7000 block of South Indiana Avenue, a 35-year-old man was found unresponsive with multiple gunshot wounds to his body. He was transported to the University of Chicago Medical in critical condition. An unknown male offender fled southbound in a silver Range Rover with no front plates. No other injuries were reported. 
  • At 6:30 a.m. in the 1600 block of East 79th Street, a 31-year-old man suffered a gunshot wound to the jaw and was taken to Stroger, where his condition was stabilized. No other injuries were reported. Area 2 detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
  • At 12:16 p.m. in the 300 block of East 60th Street, a 26-year-old woman was in an argument with an unknown femal, and it escalated into a fight. The offender than shot the victim in the lift shoulder. The victim was transported to UofC where she was listed in good condition. 
  • At 2:14 p.m. in the 4700 block of West Polk Street, a 29-year-old man was shot multiple times and then self-transported to Stroger Hospital, where he was listed in critical condition. 
  • At 3 p.m. in the 3800 block of West Lawrence Avenue, a 15-year-old boy was walking in an alley when an unkonwn person drove up in a black sedan. The person then shot the victim in the leg. The victim was transported to Illinois Masonic Hospital and listed in critical condition. 
  • At 6:46 p.m. in the 8500 block of South King Drive, a 23-year-old man and a 23-year-old girl were shot. Police say four people approached, got out guns and started firing at the victim. The man was shot in the right calf and self-transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he was listed in good condition. The woman was shot in the buttocks and also self-transported to UofC in fair condition. 
  • At 7:19 p.m. in the 3200 block of West 71st Street, a 32-year-old man and a 27-year-old man were shot by three unknown men who approached the victims and battered them, police say. One offender then shot the 32-year-old man in the left leg. He was transported to Christ Hospital, where he was listed in serious condition. The 27-year-old man refused EMS on the scene. 
  • At 7:40 p.m. in the 0-100 block of South Lotus Avenue, a 23-year-old man and a 28-year-old man were shot by an unknown person. The 23-year-old was transported to Mt. Sinai Hospital in fair condition. The 28-year-old man was transported to Stroger Hospital in fair condition. 
  • At 8:25 p.m. in the 4400 block of North Simonds Drive a 38-year-old man was standing in the parking lot of a park when a silver sedan approached a male inside began shooting. The offender fled northbound on Simonds Drive and then crashed into another vehicle. The driver was placed into custody and police say he will be issued traffic citations. the second person inside, who is believed to be the shooter, fled the scene. The victim was shot three times in the lower back and was transported to Illinois Masonic, where he was stabilized. 

Monday

  • At 12:38 a.m., officers responded to Mount Sinai Hospital, after a 25-year-old man was dropped off in critical condition with a gunshot wound to the chest. Police said he had been shot in the 2300 block of South Washtenaw, but further details were not immediately available.
  • At 3:34 a.m., a 28-yea-rold man was walking in the 2600 block of West Congress Parkway, when someone shot him in the groin. He was dropped off at Mount Sinai Hospital in fair condition.

Unless otherwise noted, no one is in custody in any of these incidents.
