Hurricane Milton made landfall near Sarasota, Florida, late Wednesday night, causing significant damage. Rep. Greg Steube, who lives in Sarasota and represents the region in Washington, joins "CBS Mornings" to discuss the impact and recovery efforts.
While Hurricane Milton made landfall on Florida's west coast, high winds still impacted the state's east coast as the storm pummeled through. CBS News' Tom Hanson shows the damage from Daytona Beach.
Lee County, home to Fort Myers and Cape Coral, is facing widespread power outages and serious flooding after Hurricane Milton's storm surge. Fort Myers was also hit by a suspected tornado before the storm made landfall, causing severe damage. Mayor Kevin Anderson shares the latest on the recovery efforts.
Speaking from the White House Wednesday night, President Biden blasted misinformation being spread by former President Donald Trump over hurricane relief efforts by the federal government. On the campaign trail in Pennsylvania, Trump continued to spread the false claim that FEMA is diverting disaster relief funds to migrants.

Hurricane Milton caused some of the worst damage long before it made landfall as the storm is blamed for at least 20 tornadoes across Florida. One of them caused heavy damage and some deaths in Fort Pierce on the Atlantic Coast, more than 100 miles from the hurricane zone.

Tampa, Florida, was not directly hit by Hurricane Milton as it made landfall Wednesday, but there's still destruction on a massive scale as hundreds of thousands are without power.
Fort Myers, Florida, which is about 80 miles south of where Hurricane Milton made landfall, suffered major flooding caused by Milton's powerful storm surge. CBS News' Nicole Valdes shows the extent of the damage.
