What is strep throat and what are the symptoms to look for?

Strep throat is a bacterial infection that commonly causes sore throat, fever, swollen glands, headache, and occasionally rash, belly pain, vomiting, and neck pain. Cough is not a symptom of strep throat, so if you also have a cough, you probably don’t have strep.
