Wilfork On Wade Fouling Rondo: 'Oh Man, That's A Fine' In The NFL

BOSTON (CBS) -- With concussions becoming a major concern in the NFL, and with general player safety at the forefront of the league's focus, it's been made clear over the past few years that any contact with an opponent's head will almost certainly result in a 15-yard penalty and perhaps a fine from the league office.

So you can imagine Vince Wilfork's surprise when Rajon Rondo got hit in the head and face by a flailing Dwyane Wade in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference finals on Wednesday night, only to see no referee call a foul.

"Oh man," Wilfork said when asked specifically about the play. "That's a fine out here."

Wilfork has become a regular attendee at Celtics home games, and he used the term "we" on Thursday to describe the team.

"I couldn't believe we blew a 15-point lead," he said of the Celtics' Game 2 loss. "That's heartbreaking. But they're fighting hard, they fight real hard. I still have faith. Hopefully we can pull two away at home and get it back to even. I'm a big fan and I'm pulling for them."

Wilfork said he sees some parallels in the Celtics and Patriots.

"We play with a lot of heart, and they play with a lot of heart," Wilfork said. "It's a tough football team and a tough basketball team. When you surround youself with good people and good athletes in a good organization, people seem to flock to you. People want to come and be a part of something that's good."

"They have something that's special. A lot of people wrote them off a long time ago. We've been written off a lot around here, too. Hopefully, they can get it done. I'll be there, I'm pulling. I'm a big fan. They have a bunch of fans in my household, so hopefully they can get it done."
