Weymouth Man Charged With Killing Guest At His Home

WEYMOUTH (CBS) - A Weymouth man charged with killing a guest staying at his apartment was ordered held without bail Wednesday.

33-year-old Eric Carpenito was arraigned on a murder charge in Quincy District Court.

Prosecutors say he stabbed 50-year-old David Lilley four times with a folding knife Tuesday and then called police just after 10 p.m.

Officers responded and found Carpenito covered in blood. Lilley was on the living room floor. He was rushed to South Shore Hospital where he died.

Prosecutors say the men had a fight over money. Lilley had been staying at the apartment for a few months.

Carpenito's attorney said Lilley is a former Navy Seal who attacked Carpenito first and had attacked him in the past.

Carpenito claims he was letting Lilley stay at his apartment for free and he called police out of fear for his life.

Carpenito has a record of assault and battery charges with some convictions.
