Murder Warrant Issued For Ex-Fiancée Of Slain North Andover Mother
NORTH ANDOVER (CBS) – A murder warrant has been issued for the arrest of a New Hampshire man who was previously engaged to a murdered North Andover mother.
Brian Chevalier, 51, of Merrimack, N.H. is currently in custody in Imperial County, Calif. after being arrested in that state. He is also charged with a parole violation out of New Hampshire and larceny in Massachusetts.
The arrest warrant for murder was issued out of the Lawrence District Court.
The Essex County district attorney's office issued Chevalier's warrant for murder on Friday afternoon for the murder of his former fiancée, Wendi Davidson, 49, of North Andover.
Davidson, a single mother of two, was found dead in the basement of an apartment she was living in with her brother.
It is not yet known when Chevalier will be brought back to Massachusetts and New Hampshire to face charges.
Chevalier is expected to appear in Imperial County Superior Court on Monday on a fugitive from justice charge.
It is unknown whether he will waive rendition and therefore when he will be returned to Massachusetts.
Davidson's family told WBZ-TV that they learned of Chevalier's arrest in California for violating his parole on Friday morning, while on their way to Davidson's funeral.
"It's tough. It's definitely a really difficult tragedy that we're dealing with," said Davidson's son, Joshua Davidson.
Davidson said the family is "very relieved" that Chevalier was taken into custody in California.
"It's unbelievable. It's a long ways away from here and it's amazing that they were able to track him down," he said.
