Army Investigating After Soldier From Ware Dies In Iraq

WARE (CBS) -- A US Army soldier has died in a non-combat-related incident in Iraq, the Department of Defense said Tuesday.

Pfc. Brian Odiorne, 21, of Ware, died Monday while supporting Operation Inherent Resolve outside of Ramadi, Iraq.

Odiorne was a member of the 1st Cavalry Division, based out of Fort Hood, Texas.

Officials at Fort Hood said he entered service as a cannon crewmember in October 2015.

They said he had been awarded with the National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, and the Army Service Medal--and that he was being posthumously awarded with the Inherent Resolve Campaign Medal and Overseas Service Ribbon.

The cause of his death was not yet known, but the Department of Defense said it was under investigation.
