Utility reviewing NH 'medical protection' accounts

A utility that shut off electricity to a woman who used powered oxygen equipment and died is placing a hold on service disconnections for all accounts in New Hampshire with a "medical protection" notice, whether current or expired.
The hold applies to National Grid accounts dating back to January 2008. The company says it's begun a review of each account to determine the customers' status.
53-year-old Kay Phaneuf of Salem died last week. National Grid said Phaneuf's account had a medical notice in the past, but not recently.
National Grid said over the last two years it had "multiple interactions" with Phaneuf. It said she indicated she had a chronic medical condition and that disconnecting her electricity could create a significant health risk.
