Trooper Assaulted By Conn. Man After Crash In Milford

MILFORD (CBS) – A Connecticut man has been charged with OUI after he allegedly assaulted a State Police trooper after a crash on I-495 in Milford.

State Police say 24-year-old Christopher Dunbar crashed into a pickup truck from behind, fled into the woods, reemerged and then made attempts to force his way into vehicles slowing for the crash.

A trooper who responded to the crash attempted to arrest Dunbar after he would not get out of the roadway.

After a violent struggle, Dunbar was placed in the rear of the State Police cruiser. He then kicked out the rear window of the cruiser and kicked the trooper.

Dunbar is charged with OUI drugs, assault and battery on a police officer, carjacking, leaving the scene of an accident, disorderly conduct and following too close.

Police say there was also a warrant out for his arrest.
