Ted Kennedy Jr's Patrick Slam
This is extraordinary: the well-respected eldest son of the late Sen. Ted Kennedy absolutely eviscerating Gov. Deval Patrick three days before the election in an op-ed piece in the Herald. Writes Ted Jr:
"Why would National Grid set aside competitive bidding in favor of a more expensive contract with Cape Wind? Enter 'sweetheart deal.' In 2006, Gov. Deval Patrick chose Cape Wind as the poster child for a new green jobs economy in Massachusetts. His administration revamped state energy policies to give Cape Wind a regulatory edge so that other green renewables could not engage fully in the process and so that, through remuneration fees, National Grid would have incentive to pick the most expensive project. Cape Wind, via regulatory legerdemain, became National Grid's most lucrative option. But the new rules cannot hide the financial realities: Cape Wind will cost Massachusetts' ratepayers at least $4 billion in new above-market energy costs."
There's much more. By all means, read it for yourself. But something tells me Charlie Baker, Tim Cahill, and Jeff Perry in the 10th (where Bill Keating is a Cape Wind supporters) will have a field day with this.
