Suspect In UNH Student's Death Charged With Planning Jail Breakout

DOVER, N.H. (AP) — A New Hampshire man suspected of killing a University of New Hampshire sophomore more than a year ago is facing a new charge of planning an "armed and violent breakout" from jail.

Seth Mazzaglia was charged last year with first-degree murder in the disappearance and death of Elizabeth "Lizzi" Marriott of Westborough, Mass.

A grand jury this month indicted him on a charge of soliciting a man to help him escape from jail.

Mazzaglia's public defender has declined to comment on previous indictments.

Prosecutors say Mazzaglia strangled Marriott after or during an attempted sexual assault and dumped her body off Peirce Island in Portsmouth. Her body hasn't been found.
