Steven Stamkos Reportedly Re-Signing With Tampa Bay Lightning
BOSTON (CBS) -- Steven Stamkos isn't going anywhere. The pending free-agent center has reportedly decided to stay in Tampa Bay with the Lightning.
"Cancel the Stamkos sweepstakes," tweeted TSN hockey analyst Bob McKenzie Wednesday afternoon, adding to a fireworks-filled afternoon for NHL news. McKenzie added that the deal is expected to be eight years with an average annual value of $8.5 million.
The Boston Bruins had previously been rumored as one of the frontrunners to land Stamkos as a free agent.
Also reported Wednesday was that the Montreal Canadiens traded franchise defenseman P.K. Subban to the Nashville Predators for defenseman Shea Weber in a 1-for-1 deal. Elsewhere, the Edmonton Oilers traded former first-overall pick Taylor Hall to the New Jersey Devils for defenseman Adam Larsson.
