State Police Major Injured In Rear-End Crash In Bedford
BEDFORD (CBS) – A Massachusetts State Police major was injured when his cruiser was rear-ended during a traffic stop on Route 3 in Bedford Thursday afternoon.
State Police said Major Matthew Gravini pulled over a Nissan Altima on Route 3 Westbound for traffic violations. While stopped in the breakdown lane behind the Nissan, Gravini's cruiser was hit from behind by a Honda CRV.
Gravini was inside the cruiser when it was hit. The cruiser then struck the Nissan.
Gravini was taken to Lahey Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The 64-year-old woman from Wilmington who was driving the CRV was also taken to the hospital for non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the Nissan was not injured.
Major Gravini is assigned to the Division of Field Services as the commander of State Police Troop A. The crash remains under investigation.
