Six Mass. High Schools Rank Among The Nation's Best

BOSTON (CBS) -- Six Massachusetts high schools have earned a spot among the Top 200 nationwide.

The US News and World Report released its 2015 Best High School rankings Tuesday, evaluating more than 21,000 public schools across the nation.

Two Massachusetts schools broke into the Top 100. Sturgis Charter Public School in Hyannis took the highest spot among the Massachusetts schools, ranking #32 nationally. Boston Latin School ranked #38.

Boston Collegiate Charter School ranked #106, Advanced Math & Science Academy Charter School in Marlborough followed at #154, and Lexington High School came in at #194.

Belmont High School took the #200 spot.

The rankings were evaluated by the schools' performance on state assessments and how well they prepare students for college.

Among the Massachusetts schools in the 2015 rankings, 26 were awarded gold medals, 53 earned silver medals and 13 received bronze medals.
