The shooting victim was transported to Massachusetts General Hospital and the stabbing victim who was taken to Beth Isreal Medical Center. Both have serious injuries.

"The relationship between the parties involved remains under investigation, as do the circumstances surrounding the violent encounter," the D.A.'s office said.

Anyone with information is asked to call Revere Police Criminal Investigation Division at 781-286-8340 or the Suffolk County State Police Detective Unit at 617-727-8817.

"It's very upsetting," said one woman who lives in the building. "I heard nothing. I knew nothing about it until this morning."

Another woman said the incident was out of character for the normally quiet neighborhood.

"I'm kind of surprised. It's a very quiet neighborhood around here," said the woman, who said sadly similar incidents are happening more frequently around the world. "It's everywhere now. Everywhere we don't feel safe."
