Report: Celtics To Consider Low-Profile Candidates For Coaching Vacancy
BOSTON (CBS) - The Celtics have begun their search for a new head coach in the wake of Doc Rivers' (eventual) departure for Los Angeles, and while there are some big-name options on the market, Boston may look towards more lower-profile candidates, according to a report.
Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports reported Tuesday that "the Celtics will consider several younger and lower-profile candidates for the franchise's coaching vacancy," according to league sources.

Included in that list is assistant coach Jay Larranaga, who was bumped up to Boston's bench for the 2012-13 season after spending two years as head coach of the Eerie Bayhawks in the NBA Developmental League. Larranaga led the Bayhawks to back-t0-back playoff appearances while going 60-40 in the regular season. He also holds the team records for all-time wins (60) and wins in a season (32).
Larranaga is set to coach Boston's summer league team next month in Orlando. Earlier on Tuesday, The Boston Herald's Steve Bulpett reported that the Celtics are ready to take their time with hiring a new coach, and could wait until after the summer league.
