David Price Confident He'll Bounce Back For Red Sox

BOSTON (CBS) --- It's no secret that David Price has struggled so far this season. Through seven starts, Price has a disappointing 6.75 earned run average, but on Thursday night, he'll have a chance to get back on track against the 14-21 Houston Astros.

"It's a big start," Price admitted. "I don't put any added emphasis on any other start and I'm not going to view it differently but I've made some changes over the last four days and I'm excited to get out there as myself."

Ever since his last start in New York, where he was tagged for six earned runs in 4.2 innings, Price has revealed a mechanical problem with his legs and hands. He believes it has held him back, but that it is now fixed and that he'll get back to his old self.

"Having more movement in my hands," described Price. "Allowing my leg to get into the position it always has been. I've been kind of cutting myself short, with my leg kick and not having the height of the leg kick I usually have. That's what's caused a lot of inconsistency."

While his mechanics may have been off, his confidence, he says, has remained the same. All that matters in the end is if the Red Sox are winning.

"My confidence level's fine," said Price. "I think if you reverse our record and we're 13-20, it might be a little bit different. My main goal is to win. I want the Red Sox to win."

Price faces off against defending Cy Young winner Dallas Keuchel, who is just 2-4 with a 4.70 ERA this season, on Thursday night. Price is 3-2 with a 2.89 ERA and 49 strikeouts in 43.2 innings in his career against the Astros.
