Prison Officials Search For Escaped Inmate In Lawrence
LAWRENCE (AP) — Prison officials in Massachusetts are searching for an inmate that walked away from a minimum security prison.
Essex County Sheriff Frank G. Cousins Jr. said Tuesday that Robert Reidy walked away from the minimum security Lawrence Correctional Alternative Center sometime Tuesday.
The 24-year-old Nashua, New Hampshire, resident is a pretrial inmate facing drug possession charges.
He's not classified as a violent offender, but officials are urging the public not to approach him.
The Lawrence Correctional Alternative Center is designed to help low-level offenders with drug and alcohol addictions become productive members of society when released from prison.
It offers rehabilitation and educational services, work release programs and community service programs.
